Performance.

 - The Artist is Guru -
.
I am interested in exploring the theme of cultism and placing myself as Artist into the persona of ‘Guru’.

This durational performance art piece looks into the contradictions of self appointed spiritual leaders. The need and tendency of humans to worship and follow individuals and both the truthful insights and the egotistical and manipulative behaviours that a self described spiritual leader can have or develop.

I playfully ask what it takes to put oneself on a pedestal and assume a position of spiritual hierarchy?

Experimenting to see how the public will respond and what that says about human behaviour? Provoking public thought about who and what we follow and worship and why?
